Big Things are Happening in Omaha

August 26th, 27th, and 28th, 2022

We will be holding the PPofN Fall conference in North Downtown Omaha (NODO) in the Hot Shops Art Center.  This area of North Downtown is a mecca for creatives, and includes both the Millwork Commons District and the New Makerhood District  The conference will start with print competition on Friday morning and be followed by a presentation from our featured educator, Tony Corbell.  His presentation will demonstrate how to create a stunning portrait with a single strobe, how to use multiple strobes to create dramatic dynamic portraiture, optimal use of modifiers and reflectors, and many other techniques for obtaining exceptional portraits under a wide range of conditions. On Saturday morning, the class will break up into small groups led by team leaders and practice the techniques from Friday in various downtown locations, including the newly renovated Leahy Mall and the picturesque Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge.  We have some really fun activities planned for both Friday and Saturday night. Wait until you hear what we have lined up for Sunday.  This will be a fun and education packed weekend that you won't want to miss!

Featured Speaker: Tony Corbell. M. Photog., CPP

Tony has been teaching lighting concepts, theories, and techniques for over twenty-five years and his weeklong workshops on the topic always fill to capacity. In the past couple of years alone, Tony spoke to over 40,000 photographers throughout the world on the topic of light control and his numerous YouTube videos have topped well over one million views. He recently was awarded the Helen Yancy Award for Outstanding Contribution to the World of Photography and has also received the Gerhardt Baaker Award for Excellence in Photographic Education as well as the United Nations Leadership Award.

Hotel Accommodations:  The Cambria Hotel has given us a block of rooms for $109 a night (which is a great rate for downtown Omaha).  They have also waived the regular parking fee for guests that book within the block of rooms.  The Cambria is a short walk from Hot Shops.
